I'm looking to see if anyone can share CIED SSI Prevention checklists/protocols for pre-hospital/clinic, pre-op, intra-op, post-op.
I'm working on SSI prevention protocols for patients undergoing CIED procedures in the EP Lab. I was Inspired by the HRS presentation on this topic, did research, brought back the knowledge, shared with my EP Lab team/physicians and am excited to say we have already implemented changes to our practice.
Intra-op SSI Prev for CIEDs is important, but this only addresses one small aspect of the patients journey. We would like to start this process at the beginning, when the patient is scheduled for procedure.
I'm looking to see if there are any checklists or protocols that can be shared for:
Pre-hospital - Do any clinics have a screening process to identify patients at high risk for developing SSI (comorbidities, procedure types, etc) and any measures taken to optimize these patients prior to CIED procedures (e.g. BG, A1C, hold anticoag, anti platelets, etc.)
I would appreciate any info you can share.
