    Hi Tharien,

For clinic visits, if a patient does not attend or no shows, the medical assistants follow the clinic policy for no shows asking them to reschedule. When our device RNs are reading remotes, their workflow includes checking to see if the patient is due for an in clinic visit. If so, they send an appointment request (AR) to the schedulers. The schedulers then make 3 attempts to contact the patient over 7 days (2 calls/texts then a letter). If there is no response in 7 days, the AR is cancelled. We recently underwent an overhaul of our scheduling system, so there has been a loss of feedback to our device team when the AR is cancelled. Thus, our lead device RN used MURJ (the device platform we use) to pull a list of patients who are due for in office visits and sent repeat ARs. So, MURJ has helped with this but still not perfect and we have room to go- would love to hear what others are doing!

    Hello Tharien-

If a patient misses their physician or NP clinic appointment, our schedulers contact them for rescheduling. If they miss several appointments, a social worker reaches out to see if there are barriers we can assist with.

If an in-person device check is missed, it is usually our device scheduler who handles the re-scheduling process.  If a patient avoids all device checks, our device manager would get involved to reach the patient or family-  identify concerns and  educate on the importance of routine checks. If needed a certified letter is sent to the home for documentation of this effort.

I hope this is helpful for you!
