As you are aware, CMS has proposed another rounds of reimbursement cuts for 2023, the most concerning impacting ablation procedures.
Please check out my interview with Jodie Hurwitz, MD, HRS President Elect as we discuss this important topic.
Included in our conversation are the possible impacts to Allied Professional roles, Hospitals and Patients as well as ways YOU can get involved by reaching out to your local Congressional representative(s).

A heart-felt thank you to Julie Shea for her dedicated work to HRS and our AHP community. CMS cuts will be devastating to our field and an effort from #WeAreHRS is needed to preserve our field, serve our patients and be part of a solution in known healthcare disparities.

RECOMMENDED ACTION CMS must revise its decision to implement these unfair, unwarranted, and unsubstantiated reductions and restore fair payments to be more consistent with 2021 reimbursement. We urge Congress to weigh in with CMS about ignoring intensity and risk to instead use time as the predominant determinant of reimbursement. Doing so has created unreasonably high reimbursement reductions for cardiac ablation treatment. Congressional input is needed to urge CMS to reverse this decision that could negatively impact the care received by Medicare beneficiaries. By increasing overall Medicare cost and disparities, as well as potentially decreasing the supply of the highly trained certified physicians who provide these valuable treatments, CMS is jeopardizing access to very important lifesaving treatment for decades.

    Everyone, please go to saveablation.org

From that website you can easily send an email to your congressperson and senator. They need to hear from as many people as possible. We need to try and rally support to reverse these draconian cuts.

    Dear Erica,

Thank you so much for sharing the website.  This is exactly who our patients are!  #EPeeps trying to do a better job, use better technology to stop suffering from atrial fibrillation symptoms should not be punished; it should be praised.  My humble opinion.

    Erica, Julie, and Martha –

Thank you all for getting the word out about the importance of fighting the proposed CMS cuts in reimbursement for ablations.

I just sent my email to my representatives in North Carolina.

I hope everyone in our HRS community will take the few minutes needed to have their voice heard on this important issue!
