Hello Everyone,
I'm writing to share a nontraditional (for many of us) publication opportunity. The journal Creative Nonfiction has launched a call for submissions for an upcoming themed issue focused on caring for the heart. Here is the text from the call:
We're looking for stories from healthcare workers and researchers; counselors and cardiologists and coaches; nurses and nutritionists … or any red-blooded writer with a heart.
Essays must be vivid and dramatic; they should combine a strong and compelling narrative with an informative or reflective element and reach beyond a strictly personal experience. We're open to a broad range of interpretations of the theme, with the understanding that all works submitted must tell true stories and be factually accurate. Above all, we're looking for well-written prose, rich with detail and a distinctive voice.
Guidelines: Essays must be previously unpublished and no longer than 4,000 words. All submissions will be considered for publication. This is a paying market.
There is a $3 reading fee, waived for current True Story and/or Creative Nonfiction subscribers.
You can see the full call here: https://creativenonfiction.org/submission/caring-for-the-heart/
I hope that this opportunity will resonate for some of us in the heart rhythm community. For my part, I'm co-editing the issue with the Creative Nonfiction editorial staff. I hope to see submissions from some of us.
Thanks,
