AP supervising RN during device clinics.

  • 1.  AP supervising RN during device clinics.

    Posted 5 days ago

Earlier in the decade, during "COVID", it was permissible for an AP to conduct a device clinic along with an RN device nurse -much the same as RNs work under a physician.

Do any APs see (and check the devices) of patients while an RN also performs device checks?  The AP signs the RNs device reports.

    Thank you kindly,

    Hello,

At Michigan Medicine, our Device clinic is an APP ran clinic. We see our patients, check the devices, manage arrhythmias, and make complex programming changes. We also manage remote monitoring + alerts. The Device RNs/ specialty trained technicians also are checking the devices which the APPs are overseeing as well.
This has been the case for years, even prior to Covid.
