Hello HRS Allied Professionals Community -

I am in the process of trying to acquire some data in regard to Ambulatory EP APP Job Duties and Staffing.

I work for a moderate sized EP group in Maine. We have 8 Full Time EP Physicians (soon to be 9) with 8 FT EP APP's in the ambulatory setting (mix of PA's and NP's) and a larger APP group that manages the inpatient practice. Our job duties include routine outpatient follow-up, pre-op and postop management, seeing new patients in shared services with the EP physician, assisting with management of our LAAO occlusion clinic, tilt table testing, loop recorder implantation, and assisting the clinical APP team with stress testing.

I am curious as to how other clinics are being managed. Any input is very appreciated. Thanks.

We do all of that, but in addition we also interrogate devices, reprogram and manage devices, manage the carelink alerts, oversee and are available to the day to day in-office pacer clinic staff. Some EP APPs opt to perform ILR implants and do ECVs themselves. We also are the first line for all patient calls to the RNs that need guidance and recommendations.

Yes - thanks Dr. Felts - I forgot to add that we manage the triage calls that come in after initial screening by an EP RN as well.
Thank you for your input- much appreciated!

    Hi,

For your APP outpatient device clinic visits, what are your appointment slots (i.e., 30-45 minutes?) and are they RN/ Tech checking with APP oversight or APP checking the device and management?

    Thank you!
