  • 1.  After-Hours Red Alert Notification

    Posted 02-05-2024 11:05

    Colleagues,

I'm hoping to get some input about how, or if, you have an after-hours red alert notification process. At Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute, the device clinicians are not on call, so all red alerts go to our after-hours answering service. The after-hours service then follows a protocol for notifying representatives, APPs and EP MDs on call.

Wondering if anyone else has a protocol for after-hours red alerts, and if so, how does your after-hours notification work?

Looking forward to any and all feedback!

Hi Amy, we do not monitor or get alert notifications after hours. Staff do check the web sites daily on weekends and holidays for alerts. Patients are informed that remote monitoring isn't a 24x7 monitoring system and if they have symptoms to go to the ER or call their physician, but not to use their remote monitor for emergencies.

Hi Amy, at the UVA we do not monitor or get alert notifications after hours, weekends or holidays. Our patients are instructed to call the on call cardiology fellow during those hours if their device alarms or if they had any concerning symptoms or go to the ER for certain symptoms or if they have received more then 1 shock. Our cardiology fellows will page the rep if there is an urgent need for a remote interrogation that cannot wait till the next day.

    Hello,

At Michigan Medicine, we have educated the patient to seek immediate medical attention/ call 911 should they need immediate attention and that we are not a 24/7 emergency medical service. We educate our patients from the beginning at the time of the patient-provider agreement and provide ongoing education, that home monitoring is provided during regular business hours. They are provided with an after hours call number if needed.

    Thank you,
