  • 1.  Question about new billing Code 0650T

    Posted 02-03-2022 08:15

Question does anyone know if 0650T:

Programming device evaluation (remote) of subcutaneous cardiac rhythm monitor system with iterative adjustment of the implantable device to test the function of the device and select optimal permanent programmed values with analysis, review and report by a physician or other qualified health care professional

Is this code for use exclusively with Boston Scientific LUX ILR currently?

Or is this code appropriate to use when any changes are made to other device companies ILR alerts on remote websites?

    Thx for your expertise

My understanding is that this code is appropriate to use for remote programming of any ILR that has capability but does  not cover programming alerts on/off on remote websites.  Has to be an actual reprogram of the ILR itself.

Great question Mr. Williams. CPT codes regardless of whether or not they are Cat III/tracking codes or full Cat I codes are purposely developed so that they are not device specific. If the other ILR device functions and reports similarly to the LUX device then this would be an appropriate code for the programming.
